Meet the Team

Taya Weiss – HMFIC, Head Wingsuit Coach, Next Level Instructor

Taya is a pioneer in wingsuit skydiving and BASE jumps for fun. As a Wingsuit Coach Examiner, she is at the forefront of new curriculum development, including as a founding member of the Next Level team. Taya has been the lead organizer and a participant in the largest wingsuit formations in the world, including the current FAI World Record. She was one of the first to develop the still-evolving discipline she named XRW (“Extreme Relative Work”), docking with a high-performance parachute pilot while wearing a wingsuit in freefall. Taya has degrees from Harvard and Princeton Universities.

Val Sobol – Wingsuit Coach, Next Level Instructor

Val started competing in wingsuit acrobatics soon after she started to fly. As a load organizer her focus is on dynamic, multi-point formations and as a coach, she encourages newbies to start backflying. A former collegiate soccer player, she now enjoys paragliding and rock climbing in her spare time. Somehow, she still manages to hold down a day job at Raytheon using her degree in Supply Chain Management and Logistics.

Scotty Bob Morgan – Wingsuit & BASE Coach, Next Level Instructor

Scotty Bob is one of the most recognized wingsuit pilots in the world for his achievements in the BASE environment. With his analytical approach to flying big wingsuits and his adventures in terrain flying, he is dedicated to bringing more knowledge and process to what is now an under-coached discipline within wingsuiting. He’s kind of a big deal (download his profile in the Wall Street Journal, no joke), and we’re happy to have him based in Southern California. Catch him when you can!

Matt Blank – Wingsuit & BASE Coach, Next Level Instructor

A highly experienced BASE jumper, climber, and skydiving instructor, Matt brings finely tuned adrenaline management skills and relaxed, confidence-inspiring demeanor to his wingsuit coaching. He holds USPA Coach and Accelerated Freefall instructor ratings and is an accomplished stunt performer. He blogs eloquently about the jumping life on his website,

Johnny Korthuis – Wingsuit Coach

Johnny hails from Alberta, Canada, where he fell in love with multiple adventure sports at a young age. Accomplished at gymnastics, parkour and free-running, mountain biking, BASE jumping, climbing, and skydiving, he brings a strong training background to his wingsuit coaching practice. His home on the web is

Lawrence de Laubadere – Freefly, Tunnel, & Wingsuit Coach

Lawrence, a fully bilingual French and American citizen, has several gold medals from United States Parachute Association National competitions in Mixed Formation Skydiving and Artistic Freefly. He is an accomplished tunnel flyer and has participated in state, national and world freefly and wingsuit records. His travel schedule makes him a contender for our most roving coach! Look for him on the boogie circuit this year. Lawrence has a BA from Ohio State University and a Certificate in Global Affairs from New York University.

Randy Seib – Wingsuit Coach

Randy is a dedicated wingsuit coach and load organizer holding USPA Coach, AFF, and tandem ratings. From tracking suits to acrobatic flying, his passion and talent shine through, making him a fun and attentive teacher. When he’s not at the dropzone he works as a contractor helping people to build their dream homes. If you love our team room at Skydive Perris (we do!), you can give Randy a high-five.

Joe Nesbitt – Wingsuit & BASE Coach

Joe is a BASE jumper, skydiver, and wingsuiter who grew up around the sport and has over a decade of plummeting experience. He holds a USPA coach rating and enjoys organizing all kinds of wingsuit jumps as well as racing in the Wide Open Wingsuit Series. With a BSBA from Xavier University, he has a career in Sales and Marketing and is passionate about fitness in his spare time (did someone say Crossfit?). He contributes to Blue Skies Magazine and writes a no-holds-barred blog.

Kyle Lobpries – Wingsuit Coach

With a day job as a US Marine Corps Captain, Kyle’s experience as a pilot helped him progress quickly in wingsuit skydiving, and his professional background contributes to his excellent coaching and teaching skills. He holds USPA Coach and Accelerated Freefall ratings. Passionate about performance, he set a new world record for the longest wingsuit flight (18.8 miles/30.3 km) and time of fall (8 minutes, 27 seconds) on Memorial Day, May 30th, 2016.

Heather Harer – Wingsuit Coach

Heather is an accomplished bigway skydiver in both belly flying and wingsuiting and holds a world record for the 61-way wingsuit formation at Skydive Perris. She is a patient and dedicated teacher with a great sense of humor who has brought many happy new wingsuiters into the flock. When she isn’t at the dropzone, she spends her weekdays working full-time for Boeing while pursuing an MBA from the University of Southern California.

Dan Dupuis – Wingsuit Coach, Team Photographer

Dan Dupuis gave up his day job, packed up his life as a New England seasonal skydiver, and moved to Skydive Perris to become a wingsuit coach and photographer. Skilled at shooting complex subjects both in the air and on the ground, he will make you look good no matter what. See his work at

Sean Devlin – Wingsuit Coach Apprentice

Sean is a jack of all trades. When he’s not BASE jumping, rock climbing, crashing motorcycles with Mike Naddor, hustling content plays, or stroking his beard, you’ll find him working, somewhat vaguely, “in tech”. Sean holds a Scuba Diver Instructor rating and brings a technical approach and attention to detail to his coaching. Unless he hasn’t had coffee yet, in which case he’s useless. Sean works hard at developing his own skills even while he helps others with theirs, which will make him a sought-after coach. Jump with him now, so you can say you knew him “before”!

Mike Naddor – Wingsuit Coach Apprentice

Mike BASE jumps, rock climbs, plays soccer, surfs, crashes motorcyles, and skiis. His years in the Rockies as a ski instructor honed a simple and light-hearted teaching style that breaks down instruction into fun, bite-sized pieces. He brings serious enthusiasm to his load organizing and, like his BFF Sean Devlin, will soon be a full-fledged coach. He’s also an awarding-winning filmmaker, professional drone pilot, and 2-time karaoke champion.  Check out some of his work at
